My Little Girl
Gotta hold on easy as I let you go Going to tell you how much I love you though you think you already know I remember I thought you looked like angel wrapped in pink so soft and warm You've had me wrapped around your finger since the day you were born
[Chorus] You're beautiful baby from the outside in Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again Go on, take on this whole world but to me you know you'll always be my little girl
When you were in trouble that crooked little smile could melt my heart of stone Now look at you I've turned around and you've almost grown Sometimes when you're alseep I whisper I love you in the moonlight at your door As I walk away I hear you say "Daddy, love you more"
{Chorus}
Someday some boy will come and ask me for your hand But I won't say yes to him unless I know he's the half that makes you whole He has a boy's soul and the heart of a man's man I know he'll say that he's in love but between you and me, He won't be good enough
[Chorus}

In My Daughter's EyesIn my daughter's eyes I am a hero I am strong and wise and I know no fear But the truth is plain to see She was sent to rescue me I see who I wanna be In my daughter's eyes
In my daughter's eyes everyone is equal Darkness turns to light and the world is at peace This miracle God gave to me gives me strength when I am weak I find reason to believe In my daughter's eyes
And when she wraps her hand around my finger Oh it puts a smile in my heart Everything becomes a little clearer I realize what life is all about
It's hangin' on when your heart has had enough It's giving more when you feel like giving up I've seen the light It's in my daugter's eyes
In my daughter's eyes I can see the future A reflection of who I am and what will be Though she'll grow and someday leave Maybe raise a family When I'm gone I hope you see how happy she made me For I'll be there In my daughter's eyes

| It's a Cancer Caused by a Virus |

You've all heard the commercials on the radio or seen them on TV! Well, I lived it!
In September of 2004, I went in for my annual exam and pap smear. Shortly after, I got a call from my doctor's office saying that they have found some abnormalities and needed me to come in for a cone biopsy.
I was terrified!!! By early December of that year, I was told that I would have to have a LEETZ Procedure (Also called a LEEP - See definitions for more info).
In March of 2005, I had a small section of my cervix removed with the LEETZ. My biggest worry was if I would ever be able to have children. Well, for those of you who don't know, I am 11 weeks prenant!!!
We are so excited!! I still go back every 4 - 6 months for check ups and PAPs. My doctor is keeping a special eye on the baby as well.
Please, get a PAP and exam regularly!! Tell your sisters, daughters, moms, grandmas, cousins, nieces, aunts, and friends to get one too!!! Read below for more info and talk to your doctor!!!

You may be surprised to learn that cervical cancer is caused by a common virus: human papillomavirus, or HPV.
Some types of HPV spread through genital sexual contact. Because many people who become infected don’t have symptoms, they can unknowingly spread the virus.
In fact, HPV is so common that by age 50 as many as 8 of 10 women who have sex will be infected with it.
While in most cases HPV does not have any symptoms, that’s not always the case. The virus can cause diseases ranging from benign (non-cancerous) changes in the cervix, lesions such as genital warts, cervical pre-cancers and cervical cancer.

- A person can reduce his or her risk of infection by staying in a long-term, mutually monogamous relationship with an uninfected partner or limiting the number of sexual partners.
- If used correctly, condoms can help reduce the risk of HPV infection. However, the level of protection from HPV infection with condom use has not yet been determined.
- Keep in mind that HPV often has no symptoms or signs, so it is difficult to know if a person is infected. The only 100 percent effective method for preventing HPV infection is to refrain from genital sexual contact with someone who has the virus.

Now that you’ve made the connection between cervical cancer and HPV, connect with the people in your life. Tell your friends, sisters, daughters, mother and other women - and men - what you’ve learned.
Tell them that cervical cancer can be prevented ... by making smart choices, following their doctors’ recommendations for regular screening and seeking prompt treatment for any HPV-related pre-cancerous cell abnormalities that might be detected in those early screenings.
It’s a sad truth that cervical cancer still affects too many women. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
Know the facts about HPV to help reduce your risk.

So it's been a while... I have some great things going on right now and some sadness.
I got a fantastic new job that I just started today. I am so excited about it!!
Unfortunately, though, my Aunt Lillian passed away today. She had been suffering and was very ill. She had a stroke back in 2001 and had not been able to get around since then. I am happy that she is no longer suffering but I will miss her!

OK - I know how whiny I am about to sound but I need to vent. I am so stressed out at work. I am tired of doing something I have to do instead of something that I want to do.
A few years ago, I gave up on my dreams of going to law school because of financial issues that my ex and I were having (I don't blame him btw - it was my choice and the right one at the time). I keep going back to it. I even took the LSAT - the entrance exam of Law Schools. I didn't do that badly. Now I am struggling again with the idea of applying - it is way to late for this fall but I could try early for the following year!
I have other options, though! If I did go to law school, I want to do a joint program for an MSW (Social Work). My parents have been foster parents for years and working with the kids, helping them to develop has always been wonderful!
I could take a lot less time to do my MSW than Law School and still have a chance to work while I go since I don't have to travel over an hour each way to go! I guess, in a way, I am weighing my pros and cons.
I just know that I will burn out soon where I am. I have to decide if I want to go work for the family business and maybe bartend for extra cash or stay where I am, get yelled at everyday, and feel like I am being set up for failure by the bosses!
Mike is very supportive and will help me in whatever I choose to do!
Thanks for getting through all of my ramblings if you did! I'll keep thinking about it for a while!

Tomorrow marks 12 years for me as a survivor! Unlike my earlier anniversaries of this date, I am not hiding, staying home from work or crying all day. I am working all day and then coming home to spend the night with my wonderful DH.
I am using this milestone as a chance to reflect on how my life is and where I once was!
